You can use your site to collect membership dues from both members and prospects:
■ For existing members who need to renew, just bill as usual:
□ Run the billing cycle to generate the invoices. See Running mass dues billing.
□ (accrual dues) Post the resulting batch.
□ When viewing their profile on your site, members are prompted to renew (as long as the invoice remains unpaid).
□ If they opt to renew, the billing item moves to their cart, for payment.
■ For site guests who want to join your organization, set up a special Join Now dues product to show up on a Join Now page, as described below.
Note: Cart support for new memberships is under development for future release.
To set up a "Join Now" billing cycle
In Desktop, check your dues item pricing and create a special billing cycle called Join Now:
1. Verify the pricing for your dues items.
Tip: Product pricing follows this order: Is there a price on the Special Pricing window? If not, is there a price on the Customer Types window (or is the Comp option enabled)? If not, use the price on the Products window.
□ On the Customer setup window for Customer Types, verify the Dues Billing options for your primary membership type (which you will use for Join Now).
□ On the Billing setup window for Products, verify that you have one product code for each dues or subscription involved in your membership options (such as chapters and sections).
□ On the Billing setup window for Products, Special Pricing, define any special pricing for your membership fees, if needed. See Special pricing examples.
2. On the Billing setup window for Billing cycles, create a new cycle called "Join Now" (with a space).
□ For Member Types, select one member type (M in this case).
□ For Products, select whichever options you want to offer, such as chapters and sections.
□ For Other Billing Instructions, be sure to enable the option for Add Member Type Items as well as those for sections and chapters, as needed.
3. On the Customer setup window for Activity Types, edit your DUES Description to be how you want it to appear to the public (such as “Membership Fees”).
To set up a "Join Now" page
On your members' site, create a Join Now page:
1. Create a JoinNow content record and add it to your site navigation.
2. On the content record, add a General Product Display iPart.
3. Configure the iPart so that Default product to display is JOIN_NOW (with uppercase and underscore).
4. Publish the content record, and view it for any changes you may want to make to options and default selections.
Tip: If you set up Special Pricing for membership fees, be sure to view your "Join Now" page using test users for each special pricing scenario to ensure that the fees appear as you intend.
